Round The Island Race (RTIR) 2020
Revised Date of the Race is Saturday 26th September 2020
This iconic race around the Isle of Wight, starts off Cowes, rounding the island anti-clockwise and finishing at Cowes - some 60 miles later. Last year, despite catching the doldrums three times, we managed to finished 225th overall out of 1250+ boats, and if we can, we are looking to improve on that: of course the conditions will play just a small part in all of that !!!!
We are chartering one of the brand new Sunsail Jeanneau 410s out of Port Solent from the Thursday evening through to the Sunday afternoon. Friday is a training and familiarisation day, Saturday 26th September is the race day - our start will be early on the RYS Start Line from Cowes. Sunday is a lazy recovery day with some light sailing around the Solent prior to returning to Port Solent for about 1600.
We will have a berth booked at Cowes Yacht Haven for both the Friday and Saturday nights.
The total 'boat' cost is shared equally among the crew and the budget/deposit is £500 per head based on a crew of 8 (this includes boat charter, marina fees, diesel, race insurance with an excess of £900, all on-board refreshments, breakfasts & lunches): evening meals and refreshments on Friday and Saturday nights will be to our own individual accounts.
We have a few berths available: so if you'd like to join the fun and experience, please get in touch - email@example.com / 07976 364757.
